Tristan Shone designs and creates custom instruments that are controllers for both hardware synths and drum machines, plus software such as Ableton Live, MAX/MSP and Logic. When thinking about the sounds that he wants to make and the feel of that music, he first visualizes the physical gestures conducive to the available hardware that would define them.

His workshop will walk through this controller design and fabrication process, and touch on the elements that he finds to be crucial to making a meaning physical connection with device and the sound.
