Alex Rosson

With the ears and vision behind the game changing Audeze headphones, audio-guru Alex Rosson has enjoyed an incredibly storied history in music. Beginning with drums at 11 and DJing at 12, the LA-native joined his first band at 15 playing bills with acts like System of a Down, 311, and many other notable bands of the day.  Once out of high school he studied to become a recording engineer and a for hire player. During this time, by day he was helping to create one of Los Angeles’ premiere data centers. By night when not drumming, he was a resident DJ, web admin and camera operator for Sublife, LA’s first weekly drum & bass internet radio program, and it’s monthly IRL event, Databass Sessions. After leaving the dotcom business, he stepped into a tenure at Technicolor as a mastering engineer, where a chance meeting lead to the creation of Audeze. They went on to produce the much lauded, audio industry-changing headphones beloved by engineers from Rick Rubin to Hans Zimmer and audiophiles alike. He also co-founded heavy bass music label Play Me Records with his wife, DJ Reid Speed. Since then he’s directed Shinola’s foray into audio and is currently working on even further refining his passion for incredible sounding audio equipment and is in the process of launching a new envelope-pushing eponymous brand, 100% of his own design.
